Ok. I know there is a ton of controversy and backlash from so many of us that are passionate lovers of the works of Tolkien.
This commercial reminded me of when I was a kid and dad told me bedtime stories from LotR to get me excited, and eventually Tolkien’s legendarium became my favorite narrative world ever devised. It was also quite sacred to me after my dad passed when I was young.
I say all that, to say that if this stuff touches and inspires young kids to read and dive deep into Arda and Middle Earth, I can be at least okay with it. Yes I’m weary like so many of what could go wrong. I was also quite angry at some of things PJ did that imo, butchered important parts of the narrative. Alas, such is film/tv adaptation.
I really hope so many people become inspired and touched by the wonder of Middle Earth that they go on their own journey to explore it for themselves.
I really liked this commercial.
